Involved Parents Make Better Students
“Students are dear when parents are near”
At Southside Academy Charter School, parents have a number of outstanding opportunities to enrich and increase their level of parental involvement. Parents can choose to volunteer on committees established by the principal or simply help teachers with special classroom projects. If recommended by their child’s classroom teacher, parents can also serve on the Parent Ambassador Team. The Parent Ambassador Team meets frequently throughout the year to discuss ways to improve the overall image of the school and to volunteer for special events and programs.
In addition to this, fathers of our Southside Academy’s students will have, for the first time, the opportunity to become members of the new organization: “Dads of Great Students.” Dads of Great Students, better know by the acronym D.O.G.S., is an outstanding opportunity for men to volunteer at the school and be close to their children. D.O.G.S. will meet occasionally and will be responsible to help in and around the school by volunteering 2 hours or more once a month.
Whether parents volunteer at the school, or from the convenience of their homes, Southside Academy takes great pride in encouraging all parents to take a deliberate and active role in their child's education.
