Southside Charter Academy’s kindergarten curriculum is expansive and rich in diversity. Even the brightest child will learn something new every day! Our reading, phonics, and writing program, which incorporates a letter of the week and the Open Court Reading Program, will be presented five days a week. Our math program, Saxon Math, will include a math meeting five days a week, formal math lessons four days a week, and an exploration time once a week. Your child will work on counting, number recognition, patterns, coins, and a variety of other math skills. We will also cover science and social studies topics that help in understanding the world around us. Also, throughout the year, we will be immersed in various themes as well as our Moral Focus curriculum. Students will also participate in special area classes such as: Art, Music, Physical Education, and Technology.
