Southside Academy Charter School increased New York State Math requirements by 29.6%
Southside Academy’s 8th grade students jumped 29.6% on its 2007 New York State Math requirements. The percent of increase led all other 8th grade students in the Syracuse City School District as well as their suburban counterparts. According to Greg Speranza, Principal of Southside Academy, “Academic performance such as this not only reflects the extraordinary commitment of our teachers to help their students to achieve math proficiency, but it also shows a willingness and a renewed attitude amongst our parents to involve themselves in the education process of their children.” This awesome accomplishment appeared on the front page of the June 9, 2007 edition of the Syracuse Post Standard newspaper.
